COVID-19 Antibody Testing
At this time, there is an urgent need for a rapid and accurate serological test to identify COVID-19 infected individuals, those who have developed an immune response, and those who have fully recovered.
Benefits of a lateral flow IgM/IgG Antibody Rapid test:
A simple fingerstick test administered at point-of-care
Results obtained in minutes with over 97% accuracy
Results are clear and easy to read
Can be used on patients who are asymptomatic
During viral infections, the Immunoglobulin M (IgM) antibody provides the first line of broad defense. This immune response is quickly followed by adaptive, highly-specific Immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies for immunological memory. Therefore, testing of SARS-CoV2 IgM and IgG antibodies are an effective tool for the rapid detection of antibodies that are an immune response to a COVID-19 infection.
IgM appears first generally 3 to 7 days after the incubation period, followed by IgG in the middle and late stages of the infection. IgM/IgG antibody tests can be an important tool to determine whether a patient recently or previously was infected by the SARS-CoV2 virus. It can also be used as a tool to help determine if a person has acquired an adaptive immunity to the virus. Please note that researchers are still determining the exact incubation period and whether a person can get re-infected. The chart is not intended to give exact periods of time. Each person may have a different incubation period and period of symptoms, if they have symptoms.
Detection of IgM antibodies tends to indicate a recent exposure to COVID-19.
Detection of IgG antibodies indicates a later stage of infection.
This test kit is a colloidal gold lateral flow immunoassay device. After a simple fingerstick, a colormetric bio strip detects antibodies that have been secreted by your immune system. COVID-19 antibody tests are given by appointment only, and are available in limited supply. Call the office (914) 984-5052 to schedule your appointment as soon as possible.
